Kayaking & Canoeing at The National White Water Centre
The National White Water Centre is located on the banks of the river Tryweryn in the picturesque Snowdonia National Park, and has been providing white water facilities for kayakers and canoeists for over 30 years. Established in 1972, the centre has expanded and developed and is now the UK’s leading white water centre welcoming thousands of visitors every year.
The centre offers 7.5km of fantastic welsh white water, graded between 2-4. Being a dam-controlled river also means there is often water available here when all other rivers are dry! All individuals accessing the river must sign-in at reception agreeing that they are competent enough to paddle it. There is no charge for paddling at the National White Water Centre and the facilities, i.e. changing rooms, hot showers and first aid provision, are all offered free.
The National White Water Centre is self-funded, being run on a commercial bases to support the development of Canoe Wales. All profits generated are used to develop both the facilities at the centre and canoe-sport in Wales. To ensure all visitors contribute equally to the maintenance of the site, there is a small charge for car parking. For those wishing to contribute further, any donations to the box in reception are greatly appreciated.
